Security Council sees discrimination against Russian energy firms

MOSCOW, May 10 (PRIME) -- The Security Council has recently noticed a higher threat to Russia’s national interests due to discrimination against the energy companies by other countries, Alexander Abelin, aide to the secretary of the authority told reporters on Wednesday, presenting a 2030 economy security plan.

“The importance of this work is conditioned by the threats connected with the discriminatory activity of foreign states towards the Russian energy aimed at reducing the share of Russian hydrocarbons in the energy balance of these states, at curbing the possibility of attracting available long-term financial resources, use foreign technologies which have become more urgent lately,” he said.

“And also by the processes of deep transformation of the global energy markets which are changing the amount and structure of demand significantly leading to tougher competition and an unstable global energy market situation.”

He said that the situation is intensified by internal problems of the industry, such as low credit availability for large energy companies and deterioration of the resource base.
